Time OutIt seems that some remodelers did some removing work as well. From Wednesday, June 22, to Sunday, July 3, a resident of 100 West 89th Street had some remodeling work done in his apartment, allowing access to a number of contractors. When the work was done, the man discovered that five watches worth a total of more than $40,000 were missing from a watchcase in his bedroom closet. The victim told police that he had not been present in his apartment during construction. The watches are one Devon, one Type XX1 Breguet silver watch, 1 TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 6, one Hamilton Valiant automatic and one Locman silver watch.

Banana StealPolice arrested a shoplifter suspected of plaguing Upper West Side Broadway stores. At 4:30 p.m. on Monday, June 6, a 23-year-old man removed merchandise from a display in the Banana Republic at 2373 Broadway. He then concealed the items in a blue bag and left without paying. Police caught up with the suspect, and he was subsequently identified by store loss-prevention officers. Christian Rolon was arrested July 1 and charged with grand larceny. The items taken were 30 pieces of Riley basic clothing with a value of $2,040.

BoyfiendOne teenager clearly needs a new boyfriend. At 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday, June 28, a 17-year-old girl was sleeping in her bed at 74 West 92nd Street when her 23-year-old boyfriend jumped on her and held her down on the bed, restraining her movement. He then grabbed her phone, which was next to her on the bed, saying, “Give me your phone!” before fleeing the location on foot. Police searched the neighborhood, and an officer stopped the perpetrator at Central Park West and 86th Street. Javon Myers was arrested June 28 and charged with robbery. The smart phone stolen and recovered was valued at $150.

No Headrests for the WealthyAn area resident might want to review the cost of keeping his children entertained on car trips. Between the hours of 7:45 p.m. on Monday, June 27 and 5:30 the following morning, someone smashed the rear driver’s-side window of a gray 2013 Mercedes S-Class sedan parked in front of 587 Amsterdam Avenue. The burglar removed two headrest screens and rummaged through the glove compartment. Each headrest screen is worth $5,000.

Coach OuchAn apparent case of absentmindedness caused a man to be absent his briefcase. At 11 p.m. on June 23, a man returned to his apartment at 201 Riverside Drive when he realized that he was missing his briefcase. The last time he had it was when he took a yellow cab to a pizzeria at West 92nd Street and Broadway. The following day, he checked his bank statement online and discovered unauthorized charges had been made both at a CVS store in New York and on yellow cab fare. He next canceled his cards. The items missing were a brown leather Coach briefcase valued at $800, an iPhone 6 worth $800, an iPhone 4 priced at $600, a leather Coach wallet worth $150, $200 in cash, a driver’s license, and ATM, American Express, and MasterCards. The total loss came to $2,550.
