Man arrested for assaultPolice arrested a 28-year-old man for assault inside Walter’s Cottage on West 43rd Street Sunday at 6:30 a.m. The victim told police that he was sitting at the bar when the suspect punched him in the face, causing a cut on his lip. Police did not identify the assailant.
Phone stolen from rec center lockerA 20-year-old man reported that his phone was stolen while he was working out in the Chelsea Recreation Center on West 25th Street Thursday, March 30, between 9 and 11 p.m. The victim told police that he put his belongings in a locker at 9 p.m. and by the time he returned at 11 p.m., his iPhone 6 was missing. The phone was tracked to the vicinity of West 42nd Street. The victim told police that he was practicing the bass when his phone was stolen.
Woman harassed on Marina Pier boardwalkA 26-year-old woman reported that she was harassed while walking her dog on the boardwalk at the northeast corner of West Street and West 23rd Street Thursday, March 30, at 2 p.m. She told police that the unknown man unexpectedly charged at her. She said that she was annoyed and alarmed at his actions and is fearful for her safety. She also told police that she has seen the man on the train numerous times and has glimpsed him staring at her.
Cab driver assaultedPolice arrested a 31-year-old man for assaulting a cab driver at the northeast corner of 10th Avenue and West 42nd Street Sunday at 5:30 p.m. The driver told police that the two got into an argument and that the man then became irate before punching the victim in the face, cutting his mouth. Police said that the two did not know each other. The alleged assailant was not identified.
Woman hit by cyclistA 26-year-old woman reported that she was hit by a cyclist at the northwest corner of Eighth Avenue and West 14th Street Friday, March 31, at 2:30 p.m. The victim told police that she was trying to cross 14th Street when she noticed that the traffic light was about to change. She said that she turned around to get back on the sidewalk when she was struck on her right side by a cyclist, who fled the scene. The victim suffered minor bruises and was transported to the Lenox Hill Healthplex for further evaluation.
L train graffitiedAn MTA employee reported that an L train was hit with graffiti inside the Eighth Avenue and West 14th Street station between 11:30 a.m. and 3:47 p.m. Wednesday, March 29. An MTA employee found the train, which was parked on the station’s spur track, with extensive exterior graffiti. The tag “dimebag,” sprayed with red, white, blue, purple, black and green paint, was 30 feet long and 4 feet high. The MTA said that it would cost about $1,250 to clean the train.
