Cosmetic ProcedurePolice said a man and woman entered the Duane Reade store at 4 Amsterdam Ave. and took lipstick, nail polish and other cosmetics valued at $2,149 from store shelves on Thursday Oct. 8 before fleeing in an unknown direction.

Chair WaryAt 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 14, a 46-year-old woman was having a cup of coffee at the Starbucks in 1841 Broadway, having hung her bag on the back of her chair. When she next looked for her wallet in her bag, it was missing, along with $60 in cash, a variety of credit cards and other items totaling $270.

Women arrested on grand larceny chargesPolice arrested two 22-year-old women who broke into a parked car on Amsterdam Avenue. At 2 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 9, a 24-year-old man parked his car outside 70 Amsterdam Ave. When he returned, he discovered that someone had broken into the car and stolen his wallet and credit cards. Police were able to identify and collar the thieves, however, arresting the two women on charges of grand larceny.

Taxation with MisrepresentationOne senior West Side resident refused to fall for the ubiquitous IRS phone scam. At 6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 5, a 69-year-old woman received a phone call from someone claiming that she owed the IRS $3,500 in back taxes and needed to pay immediately or face the consequences. Fortunately, she suspected she was being scammed and never sent the money. Police are investigating.

Laptop taken from YMCAAn Asus laptop worth $1,500 was taken from a man’s YMCA locker on West 63rd Street on Oct. 20, police said. A 23-year-old man told police he had locked the locker before his workout.
