cars broken intoA man reported that his car was broken into while he went to an ATM near 172 Seventh Ave. around 3:20 p.m. Oct. 14. He told police that he parked his car to go to the ATM and not long after, an individual wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and a black backpack was caught on video going into the victim’s car and taking $150 in cash as well as the victim’s iPhone 6. The suspect was spotted fleeing north on Seventh Avenue on a bicycle and the incident was caught by surveillance video from a nearby nail salon. The victim told police that he remote locked the vehicle and police said that there was no forced entry to the car.
Another man reported that his car was broken into while it was parked in front of 305 West 28th Street sometime between about noon Oct. 13 and late on Oct. 14. He told police that an unknown person damaged the driver’s side door window and removed a GPS device from the car. He said that the stolen property was worth about $100 and the property damage was about $200.
Train graffitied Police reported that an A train was tagged with graffiti Oct. around 3:30 p.m. while the train was in the tunnel at the West 14th Street/Eighth Avenue station. MTA officials notified police that the train was graffitied with the tag “1cers” done in orange, yellow and white, and the tag was approximately two feet high and fifteen feet long. Police estimated damage at about $1,300. The tag is under investigation.
Phone stolen A 48-year-old woman reported that her phone was stolen on the morning of Oct. 15 while she was sleeping inside a Chelsea deli on Eighth Avenue. She told police that she was sitting in the restaurant and fell asleep around 7:30 a.m. but once she woke up at 8:30 a.m., her cell phone was missing.
Man wanted for theft An employee of the Rite Aid at 188 Ninth Ave. told police a man stole a number of bottles of body wash from the store around 9:20 a.m. on Oct. 14 He told police that the suspect came into the store and put 17 bottles of body wash into a white plastic bag and left the store without paying. The value of the body was put at $152.53.
Man slapped A 24-year-old man reported that he was harassed outside a building at 401 West 22nd St. late on the night of Oct. 12. He told police that he was walking to work when a stranger slapped him in the face, causing him annoyance and alarm, but no injuries. The victim said that the suspect had been following him along the street before smacking him.
