Man busted for drunk driving Police arrested a 26-year-old man for drunk driving after he sideswiped another motorist at the corner of West 26th Street and 12th Avenue early on Nov. 4. The victim told police that he was driving south on 12th Avenue about 5:20 a.m. when he was sideswiped by another driver, who fled the scene. The victim complained of pain in his left shoulder as a result of the collision. When police caught up with the driver opposite on 27th Street and he got out of the car, he was holding a 16 ounce can of Bud Light Lime Strawberita. Police said that he had watery eyes, an odor of alcohol on his breath and slurred speech. The suspect’s license was also suspended. He was charged with intoxicated driving and leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury.
Car stolen from West 23rdA man reported that his car was stolen from the Quik Park garage at 435 West 23rd St. last week sometime between Thursday morning and Friday. The victim told police that when he went to pick up his car at the garage, an employee told him it was no longer there. The employee said that the keys were left inside the vehicle and the car was left unlocked. A computer check on the car found that the LPR system had multiple readings of the vehicle throughout the city after the victim left it at the garage.
Wallet stolen on Ninth Ave.A 59-year-old man reported that his wallet was stolen from in front of 290 Ninth Ave. on Oct. 20 around noon. The victim told police that he dropped his wallet outside the building and didn’t realize it was missing until about an hour later. He said that the wallet contained his New York State driver’s license and $100 in cash.
Cab driver arrested for assaultA 46-year-old cab driver was arrested for assault in front of 321 West 21st St. Nov. 5 at 3:30 p.m. The 53-year-old victim told police that he was riding in the suspect’s cab and got into a dispute with the driver about the fare. The victim said that the driver became irate and forcefully grabbed the victim, throwing him to the ground, causing cuts and redness to his chest.
Man busted for menacing and drugs Police arrested a 33-year-old man for criminal sale of a controlled substance in front of 453 West 17th St. on Nov. 6. The 32-year-old victim told police that the suspect approached him about 4:15 in the morning and offered him narcotics, but also threatened him with a knife. When the suspect was searched, police found that he was also in possession of marijuana in addition to a controlled substance.
Man arrested for bike theft Police arrested a 39-year-old man for petit larceny inside Pier 61 Chelsea. An employee who was periodically checking the surveillance camera on the evening of Sunday, Nov. 6 watched a man clipping a chain bike lock in the security room. The employee sent his security to apprehend the man. Police later found that he was also in possession of burglary tool and a controlled substance.
