Fur-lined and PurloinedAt 9:30 a.m. on February 2, a 41-year-old woman left her fur-lined parka on a chair in an open seating area inside the Brookfield Place shopping plaza at 230 Vesey St. and headed to work. Her black Yves Salomon parka, valued at $2,500, was gone when she went to fetch it. A search of the surroundings turned up nothing but the victim told police said the overcoat was covered under her insurance policy.
Duane BaneAt 6:41 p.m. on February 9, three men and a woman entered the DR location at 305 Broadway and took packages of Rogaine, Mucinex, Flonase, Allegra, and various other nasal remedies with a total value of $1,723.
The following morning, a man was seen on security video placing 48 packages of assorted razor blades with a total value $1,019 inside a shopping basket at the same store before concealing the items inside his clothing. He then dropped off the empty shopping basket and left the store without paying.
Nassau NastyThe winter weather didn’t deter at least one downtown pickpocket. A 35-year-old woman told police that sometime after 1:45 p.m. on February 9, an unknown perpetrator removed her wallet from her bag as she was walking on Nassau Street between Fulton and John Streets. The pickpocket charged $7.94 to her debit card before she was able to cancel her cards. The other items stolen included a Burberry wallet priced at $200, a commuter wage card valued at $150, $50 in cash, MetroCards worth $40, along with a New York State driver’s license and ID, and various debit and credit cards.
Panini MeanieHell hath no fury like a former employee. At 2:30 p.m. on February 8, a bad guy took a 45-year-old man’s belongings inside the Panini & Co. restaurant at 115 Broadway. The victim was advised by a 32-year-old female witness that the perpetrator was a former employee of the location. A search of the surroundings proved fruitless. The items stolen included an iPhone 6 valued at $600, a cell phone case worth $20, a New York State driver’s license, and some credit cards. The total stolen came to $620.
