Motorcycle driver injured at West 14th and EighthA 28-year-old man told police that he was injured in an accident by a driver who left the scene while on his motorcycle at the northwest corner of Eighth Avenue and West 14th Street Sunday, Nov. 15 at 4:45 a.m. He said that while he was making a left hand turn off of West 14th Street onto Eighth Avenue when he was hit by a vehicle on his left hand side. The collision and fall dislocated his shoulder, he told police. There was no damage to the motorcycle and no witnesses saw the incident. No arrests have been made.
Card ALLEGEDLY stolen by Uber driverA 38-year-old woman reported that her debit card information was stolen by an Uber driver after she was dropped off in front of her apartment on West 17th Street at Eighth Avenue on Nov. 1. She told police that she picked up a black livery cab in front of 39 East 58th St. and the driver told her it would be $20. The driver was about to pick up another customer at her location after dropping the victim off but he told her that he needed her card because she didn’t have enough cash, so she gave him the card and entered her PIN. She said that he then told her that the card didn’t work and she told police that she was scared because during the ride, the driver had said that he was a drug dealer. She then forgot her card with the driver because she was nervous and she was later notified by fraud services that there were multiple charges made at an ATM without her permission. She reported the incident Nov. 13.
Laptop stolen from West 19th St. apartmentA 24-year-old woman reported that her laptop was stolen from her apartment at West 19th Street and 10th Avenue sometime between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12. She told police that an unknown person entered her apartment and removed the computer. She told police there was no visible forced entry into the apartment. She mentioned that the building super might have keys to her apartment and that there are also various workers who had recently been in the building. The Find my MacBook app located the computer on Laconia Avenue in the Bronx.
Car broken into on West 24thA 26-year-old man reported that his car was broken into when it was parked in front of 262 West 24th St. sometime between 9:40 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13 and 1:25 p.m. on Saturday. He told police that he left the car parked there overnight and when he came back to check on it, he noticed that his passenger’s side rear window was broken and his laptop, iPhone and backpack had been stolen.
Woman hit by car at Seventh and West 23rdA 26-year-old woman reported that she was hit by a car at the southwest corner of Seventh Avenue and West 23rd Street Saturday, Nov. 14 at 11:40 a.m. She told police that she was crossing at the crosswalk with the right of way when a vehicle struck her and left the scene. There was no word on whether she was injured.
Wallet stolen at BuddakanAn employee of Buddakan at 75 Ninth Ave. told police that his wallet had been stolen at the restaurant Saturday, Nov. 14 around 10 a.m. He told police that he left his wallet in his pants pocket inside the employee changing room and that it was gone when he returned. The restaurant’s manager pulled surveillance video and saw that a former employee was in the changing room and taken the wallet. No arrests have been made yet.
Theft at Chelsea Rec CenterA 17-year-old boy told police that his sneakers and sweatshirt were stolen from the Chelsea Recreation Center at 420 West 25th St. Saturday Nov. 14 around 1:15 p.m. He said that he put the sneakers and sweatshirt into a locker in the men’s upstairs locker room and that he locked it with a key and padlock. He told police that when he returned, he saw that the items had been removed and the lock was missing.
