Ice cream bandits strikes CVSA CVS employee reported that two people working together had made off with about $1,000 worth of ice cream from the store at 500 West 23rd St. Friday afternoon. The employees said that two people came into the store and took 148 containers of ice cream. The employees said that this is the third time this has happened at the store and the first time it happened, they reported it to the police. No arrests have been made.
Drunk man punches officersPolice arrested a 23-year-old man for assault of a peace officer early Friday morning in front of 102 Eighth Ave. Police said that the man was intoxicated inside the subway station at West 14th Street and Eighth Avenue and was thrown out of the station at the 15th Street/Eighth Avenue exit. After the officers kicked him out, they turned around to return to the station when the man punched one of the officers in the face. A 21-year-old woman that the man was with was charged with obstruction of government administration because she interfered with the man’s arrest.
Man robbed during seizureA 28-year-old man reported that he was robbed sometime during a seizure that he had in front of 75 Ninth Ave. on March 16 at 11 p.m. The victim told police that he woke up at the hospital after being brought there unconscious due to the seizure. He realized when he woke up that his wallet was missing and there were charges on his debit card. On the day of the incident, he had left work and was walking down the street and had his wallet with him. He was brought to Lenox Hill Hospital after the seizure. Police collected video on April 11 from Chelsea Market that shows an unknown suspect taking the victim’s wallet.
Watch thieves use cab as getaway carA 24-year-old man reported that his watch was stolen in front of 116 10th Ave. after he left Club Avenue on 10th Avenue early Sunday morning. He told police that he hailed a cab as he was leaving the club and when he was about to get in the car, two men who were in the cab removed his Cartier wristwatch and then fled in the same cab. The victim told police that he was intoxicated at the time of the incident.
Men arrested for breaking into buildingPolice arrested two 25-year-old men for criminal trespassing inside 230 West 24th St. Friday late Friday afternoon. Police said that the men were in the vestibule of the building, gaining entry to the second door of the entrance with a plastic card. They successfully entered the building using the card and remained inside the building unlawfully. Police said that the men were found in the building’s courtyard at the rear and neither were tenants in the building or guests of tenants in the building.
Bodega employee assaultedAn employee inside the bodega at 288 Eighth Ave. told police he was assaulted late Friday night. A customer had come into the store and started an argument, then punched the store employee in the face. The alleged puncher left the store but then threw a glass bottle from the street, again hitting the victim in the face. The man also said that he was “gonna shoot this place up,” although no gun was recovered. No arrests have been made and the suspect did not know anybody inside the store.
Men arrested in fight at Marina PierPolice arrested two men involved in a fight over a soccer game on the Marina Pier at Pier 61 at the northwest corner of 11th Avenue and West 20th Street late Thursday. Police said that one of the players, a 30-year-old man, came up behind a 35-year-old man and punched him in the nose. The 35-year-old retaliated by slapping the other player in the face, causing a bruise to his right eye, and spitting on him.
