Snack AttackA young man was arrested after a shoplifting incident turned violent. At 4:45 a.m. on February 6, three men and a woman walked into the 7-Eleven store at 801 Amsterdam Ave. and began taking items and placing them in one of their backpacks. The quartet were about to leave the store when they were confronted by a store employee. The employee tried to stop the suspects but was shoved to the ground twice by one of the baddies. Kshawn Diaz, 22 , was arrested two days later and charged with robbery. The items stolen included Hershey’s Cookies N’ Cream, Welch’s Mixed Fruit, a bacon cheeseburger, a Sprite, and a Haribo Snake, making a total of $61. The employee suffered no serious injuries and refused medical attention at the scene.

Teen arrested on robbery chargesPolice arrested a young woman who ganged up on another. At 3:30 p.m. on February 8, a 17-year-old woman was in the park in front of 160 West 104th Street when two other individuals approached her. After a brief verbal dispute, one of the perpetrators swung at the victim. The victim tried to defend herself while the same perpetrator grabbed her hair and threw her to the ground. A second alleged perpetrator then joined in the struggle and began punching the victim in the head, causing a bump on top of her head, a cut lip and scratches on her right ear. Finally one of the victim’s friends came along, and the perpetrators took off. Before fleeing, however, the second perpetrator saw the victim’s cell phone laying on the ground and took it. The victim was taken to St. Luke’s hospital. Alyssa Larosa, 17, was arrested on February 13 and charged with robbery.

son arrested after mother is assaultedA woman’s middle-aged son was arrested after he sent her to the hospital, police said. At 11:38 p.m. on February 9, a 41-year-old man left his room at 210 Riverside Drive and body slammed his 77-year-old mother to the ground injuring her right hip and groin, according to police. She was not able to walk without assistance and was taken to St. Luke’s hospital. Alexis Desurcy was arrested and charged with assault.

Teen charged with strangulationPolice arrested charged a young man after he attempted to strangle a young woman. At 1:22 p.m. on February 11, a 21-year-old woman and a 16-year-old man were having a verbal dispute at 230 West 105th Street which turned violent when the young man, later identified as Fekri Kram, grabbed her arm and neck, hurting and cutting her. The victim also sustained scratches on the right side of her face and neck. She nevertheless refused medical attention at the scene. Kram was arrested the same day and charged with strangulation.
