bad AuraBefore you ask a psychic to cleanse your property of a bad aura, you may want to check that psychic’s aura. At 1:40 p.m. on Friday, July 28, an East 83rd Street resident invited a female psychic to her home to cleanse her jewelry of a bad aura. The psychic promised to do the job in one week but never returned the jewelry or responded to the 23-year-old resident’s repeated attempts to contact her. In all, the woman was robbed of jewelry valued at $9,950, including a gold necklace, white gold earrings, bangles, an amethyst ring and other items.

The Young and the RecklessOne high-end department store may need to vet its employees more carefully. Between Monday, August 14 and August 17, a 16-year-old Bronx woman working for the Barney’s store at 660 Madison Ave. was found to have taken items of store merchandise, police said. In some cases she concealed the items on her person or put them in her bag. In at least one instance, she had goods delivered to an unsuspecting friend. In all she took 35 items, with a total value of $16,683. She was arrested on the 17th, and charged with three counts of grand larceny and three counts of criminal possession of stolen property.

Homeless and Hostile One homeless man found a new temporary home courtesy of the law. At 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 17, a 41-year-old homeless man stole fruit from a vending cart outside 1392 Second Ave. He also broke the 48-year-old male vendor’s eyeglasses, according to police. When officers arrived, the man then punched one them. The man was arrested and charged with petty larceny, criminal mischief and assault on a police officer. The struck officer required stitches.

Motorcyclist, cab driver clash A cabbie was arrested after a road rage incident. At 8:12 a.m. on Wednesday, August 16, a 42-year-old male yellow-cab driver from the Bronx got into a verbal altercation with a 28-year-old motorcyclist from Queens. After the two finished exchanging words, the cabbie followed the biker and then struck him with his cab. The cabbie drove off, but was soon pulled over, arrested and charged with felony assault and leaving the scene of an accident. The biker was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Permit NitwitA local motorist thought he had found free and easy parking, until the police caught up with him. At 11:10 a.m. on Monday, August 14, police discovered that a 51-year-old male Upper East Side resident was using a forged NYPD parking permit to park his car in the area illegally. The man was arrested at 1:44 p.m. and charged with possession of a forged instrument.
