Republic ReaperClothes have been the hot-ticket item for Upper West Side shoplifters in July. At noon on July 8, a 31-year-old man entered the Banana Republic store at 1976 Broadway and made off with $1,800 worth of clothing. Fortunately, he did not get away with the crime – or the clothes -- as police arrested him on a charge of grand larceny.

Second Time’s No CharmShoplifters do not always go after new merchandise. At 7 p.m. on July 6, a shoplifter made off with a vintage Chanel clasp bag valued at $3,000 from the Second Time Around shop at 238 West 72nd St.

Lock It ScienceAt 10 p.m. on July 6, a 34-year-old man returned to his locker inside the New York Sports Club at 75 West End Ave. He had neglected to lock his locker, and sure enough, his wallet and its contents valued at $300 were missing.

Short on ShortsOne shoplifter proved to be a very poor sport. At 11 p.m. on July 5, a man entered the Modells sporting goods store at 348 Amsterdam Ave. and got away with $1,300 worth of shorts.

No No BabetteAt least one female shoplifter has been hard at work as well. At 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 3, a woman entered the Babette store at 353 Columbus Ave. and stole clothing valued at $1,400.
