Angry Boyfriend Assaults EMS WorkerA man was arrested on assault charges on April 15 after he repeatedly tried to interfere with EMS technicians treating his girlfriend on lower Broadway, police said. Romel Cooper, 25, several times was told to back away by the techs, who were attending to an unconscious woman in front of 55 Broadway that Saturday night. Cooper, though, was said to have become irate and pushed a 37-year-old male EMS worker away from the woman, police said. The EMS worker then pushed back, at which point Cooper punched the tech in the mouth. He later fought with police as officers tried to subdue him.

Rolex VexPolice remind gym-goers that you really don’t need to bring an expensive watch to your workout, as health clubs usually have wall clocks. At 8 a.m. on Wednesday, April 12, a 36-year-old woman was working out at the Equinox Tribeca health club at 54 Murray St. when she placed her $5,000 Rolex on the treadmill. Only after having left the gym did she remember she had left her watch on the machine. She called the gym, and an employee said they had a watch matching the description she gave. She went back to the facility, but now the gym manager said they had no such watch. Nevertheless, the manager said the company would review surveillance video and see if they could figure out what happened. The missing watch was a Rolex valued at $5,000. Apparently the video revealed all, and Richard Reed, 28, was arrested on April 16 and charged with grand larceny.

Abercrombie & FilchAbercrombie must have some unusually enticing new men’s fragrances. At 8:28 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, four individuals entered the Abercrombie & Fitch store at 199 Water St. and, working in concert, concealed items of merchandise before leaving the store without paying. In all they stole 28 bottles of men’s fragrance with a total value of $1,672. Then the next day at 5:06 p.m., a young woman entered the same Abercrombie store and stole 19 men’s fragrances with a total value of $1,474. A 22-year-old is wanted for questioning in connection with the latter incident.

Court FoulsSomeone picked up a hoops player’s wallet while he was playing a pickup game. At 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 16, a 22-year-old man placed his bag on the ground at the Northeast corner of West and Harrison Streets to play basketball. When the game was over he picked up his bag from the ground and walked to a nearby train station. He then reached into his bag for the MetroCard inside his wallet and discovered that his wallet was now missing. He told police that he hadn’t been bumped, pushed, jostled, or injured. He checked his credit and debit cards over the phone and found that three cards had been used to make unauthorized charges totaling $1,068.
