Tapped OutAdd a shoulder tap to pickpockets’ arsenal. At 2:30 P.M. on Jan. 10, a 23-year-old woman in front of 285 Fulton Street was tapped her on the shoulder from behind by someone who then removed her iPhone 6s, valued at $600, from her jacket pocket. The victim told police that she thought the perpetrator had been following her.
Food Court CrimeAt 8:30 a.m. on July 15, a 43-year-old woman working for the Hudson Eats food court at 225 Liberty St. locked her possessions in a women’s room locker. When she returned at 4 p.m. the lock had been removed from her locker, and her wallet and its contents gone. She canceled her credit cards, and no unauthorized usage had turned up at the time of the police report. The items stolen included a black wallet valued at $50, $170 in cash, a New York State driver’s license, two credit cards, and other items.
Something FishyA Brooklyn deliveryman might have been left in “shell shock” after a thief broke into his truck on the morning of Jan. 12. The 31-year-old deliveryman had stopped at at the Weather Up bar at 159 Duane St. When he returned to his truck, a number of provisions was missing. They included 5 razor clams, 30 Moosabec mussels, 100 countneck clams, 100 Peconic gold oysters and a Magliner hand truck. The value of the missing goods was put at $307.
Bad BusinessA young business student apparently needs more lessons in ethics. Sometime after 8 a.m. on Jan. 11, an 18-year-old woman removed a woman’s credit card inside the Urban Assembly School of Business for Young Women at 81 New St. and attempted to make $4,528 worth of unauthorized online purchases. The victim’s wallet and credit card were recovered by a custodian in the women’s room late that day. All the unauthorized charges on the credit card were denied, and the victim’s bank notified her of the improper credit card usage. The school’s principal also notified the perpetrator’s mother of her daughter’s crime. Kasandra Wilson was arrested Jan. 13 and charged with grand larceny.
