Cash stolen from saloonAn employee of the Dry Bar at 492 West 42nd St. reported that cash was stolen from the salon Sept. 15 at 10 p.m. She told police that she let an unknown man into the saloon so that he could charge his phone but when she walked away from the desk, he went behind the register and removed $240 in cash before leaving the store. The employee said that she has video footage of the man taking the cash but no arrests have been made.
Menace arrestPolice arrested a 34-year-old man for menacing at the northeast corner of Eighth Avenue and West 23rd Street early morning Sept. 18. A 55-year-old man told police that he saw the suspect in an argument with two women inside the subway station at West 23rd Street and Eighth Avenue. He said that he approached the man and told him to leave the women alone, at which point the suspect responded, “F--k you, f----t. I have a gun and I’m gonna shoot you.” The victim said that he felt like he was in imminent danger and he feared for his life. When police arrived, they found a man who matched the suspect’s description and when he was arrested, the victim positively identified him.
Phone stolen from car on Eighth AvenueA 42-year-old man reported that his phone was stolen from his car Sept. 18 around 8 a.m. while he was parked in front of 219 Eighth Ave. He told police that he was sleeping in his car while it was parked at the location. His windows were rolled down and when he woke up, he realized that his iPhone was missing from the console.
cocaine possession arrest Police arrested a 31-year-old man for possession of a controlled substance at the southwest corner of Ninth Avenue and West 18th Street Sept. 16 at 2:10 a.m. Police said that the man was seen holding a clear bag of alleged cocaine and when they attempted to place him under arrest, he proceeded to shove the officers, aggressively flailing his arms and trying to walk away to prevent from being handcuffed. The suspect was also charged with resisting arrest.
Man arrested for spreading out on 1 trainPolice arrested a 28-year-old man inside the subway station at Seventh Avenue and West 23rd Street Sept. 15 at 4:15 a.m. after he had his feet on a seat of a 1 train. Police said that the man was outstretched across multiple seats and had his feet on the bench, in violation of transit rules and regulations and causing a public inconvenience. When police attempted to place him under arrest, he allegedly stiffened both arms, preventing the officer from handcuffing him. Police said that his actions also caused a crowd to form, causing a hazardous condition in the station. The suspect was also charged with resisting arrest.
HARASSMENT ALLEGEDA transgender woman told police that she is being harassed by her caseworker at Gay Men’s Health Crisis at 446 West 33rd St. She told police that the harassment has been going on since the beginning of August and her caseworker continuously refers to her as male, even though she has told the caseworker to stop on multiple occasions. She also said that she has been touched by other participants from the organization but the organization has reportedly refused to do anything about it.
