Cyclist hit by car on Eighth Ave.A cyclist reported that he was injured after he was hit by a car in front of 189 Eighth Avenue late Friday July 7. The bicyclist told police that he was riding his bike north on Eighth Avenue in the right lane just before midnight when he was hit by a sedan, and thrown to the pavement. The man said he was cut and bruised. The driver did not stop. Two bicyclists were killed in Chelsea last month. Dan Hanegby, 36, was killed June 12 when he was crushed by a charter bus’ rear wheels while riding on 26th Street between Seventh and Eighth Avenues. Five days later, Michael Mamoukakis, 80, was riding south on Seventh Avenue when he was struck, also by a tour bus, and killed at the intersection of 29th Street.

Pair arrested for trespassing in tour busPolice arrested a 33-year-old woman and 24-year-old man for trespassing on a tour bus parked at the southwest corner of Ninth Avenue and West 38th Street late on July 6. Police said that the man and woman went inside the Gray Line Tour Bus while it was parked and not in operation, and did not have permission to be inside.

Teen sought for damaging carA woman reported that a 13-year-old boy threw a glass bottle at her car when it was parked in front of a NYCHA building at 428 West 26th Street July 6 at 5 p.m. The victim told police that the bottle hit her car, causing a dent in the trunk. The victim said that she didn’t see the incident herself but a witness told police that the teen threw the bottle from his apartment window.

Taxi hits bus on Ninth AvenueA 54-year-old bus driver reported that his bus was damaged by a taxi while it was parked opposite 290 Ninth Avenue July 7 at 8:30 a.m. The driver reported that he was sitting in the parked school bus when a yellow taxi struck his vehicle, then fled south on Ninth Avenue. Police said that a female passenger suffered minor injuries and was transported to Bellevue Hospital for treatment. No arrests have been made.

Woman arrested for stealing mulchPolice arrested a 51-year-old Chelsea resident for stealing mulch from a public school’s garden at 281 Ninth Avenue July 8 at 2:25 a.m. Police said that the woman entered the PS 33 garden and remained there unlawfully, taking two bags of mulch from the property without permission.

Man deflates NYPD car tirePolice reported that a man deflated a patrol car’s tire at the southeast corner of 11th Avenue and West 42nd Street July 5 at 8:20 p.m. Police said that the suspect got out of a yellow cab and approached an NYPD vehicle, then deflated the front passenger’s side tire before fleeing west on West 42nd Street towards 12th Avenue.
