pedestrian hIT, Man arresteDPolice arrested a 30-year-old man for intoxicated driving at the southwest corner of Ninth Avenue and West 18th Street Aug. 12 at 2:40 a.m. The suspect was driving on Ninth Avenue without headlights on when he drove through the intersection at West 18th Street, going through a steady red light. Police said that he collided with a vehicle. When police approached the suspect’s car, they found that he had an odor of alcohol on his breath and that his speech was slurred. He reportedly told police, “I came from The Ritz and I only had a couple of drinks.” Police administered a sobriety test and found that his blood alcohol level was 0.159.
Drug overdose at Dream HotelA 55-year-old man was treated for a drug overdose after he was found in the lobby at the Dream Hotel inside 355 West 16th St. shortly after midnight Aug. 12. Police said that the man was found unconscious and was not breathing while sitting on a chair in the lobby. Police administered Naloxone at the scene and he was brought to Lenox Hill Hospital. He was breathing and conscious while at the hospital and police said that he told them he had been at a nearby club dancing prior to the overdose.
Man arrested for assaultPolice arrested a 61-year-old man for assault at the northeast corner of Eighth Avenue and West 24th Street Aug. 13 at 2 a.m. Police said that the suspect punched a 52-year-old man who was standing on the street corner, brusing the victim’s face. Police searched the area and found the suspect sitting on the corner at Eighth and West 24th. The victim was taken to Lenox Hill Hospital by EMS. Police said that the victim and suspect didn’t know each other and no further information was available about what provoked the attack.
Man hit by car on Ninth Ave.A 27-year-old man reported that he was hit by a car at the northwest corner of West 23rd Street and Ninth Avenue Aug. 12 y at 2 p.m. He told police that he was walking west on West 23rd Street and was in the crosswalk crossing Ninth Avenue when a car traveling east on West 23rd Street made a right turn onto Ninth Avenue going south, struck him and fled the scene. He told police that he didn’t have any injuries and he refused medical assistance at the scene.
Man busted for theftPolice arrested a 23-year-old man for grand larceny in front of 121 Ninth Avenue early on Aug. 13. Police said that the suspect withheld the 21-year-old victim’s property, including a credit card, iPhone and identification cards, and hid the items in his pockets and a garbage bag.
Man busted for trespassing in seminaryPolice arrested a 38-year-old for trespassing inside the General Theological Seminary on West 21st Street on Aug. 13 at 7 p.m. Police said that the man had no permission to be inside the basement of the locked church, which is located on the grounds of a fenced seminary.
Woman harassed at Ninth Ave. buildingA 42-year-old woman was harassed in her building hallway on Ninth Avenue between West 39th and 40th Streets early on the morning of Aug. 12. She told police that an unknown woman shoved her to the ground and that the woman is frequently outside her building. Police said that the woman is possibly homeless and no arrests have been made. The victim was not injured.
