Cell-mellTo cellphone thieves, an Apple store is a mecca they can’t seem to resist. At 3 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 9, a man got into the stock room in the Apple Store at 1981 Broadway and removed seven iPhones valued at $5,143. The theft is still being looked into.
NYSEeeeeAnother week, another locker break-in. At 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 17, a 39-year-old man returned to his locked locker in the New York Sports Club at 248 West 80th St. to discover that his wallet was missing. Unauthorized charges turned up on some credit cards and the unknown thief got away with $130 in cash.
Lap TapA car parked on the street is not a safe carrier for one’s laptop. At 11 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 13, a man returned to his car parked outside 145 West 84th St. to find that the rear driver’s-side window had been broken and his laptop removed from inside the vehicle. The laptop is valued at $1,400.
Banana ChargeOne shoplifter will not be pilfering store goods anytime soon. At 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14, a 36-year-old woman made off with merchandise totaling $1,073 from the Banana Republic store at 1976 Broadway. Police later caught up with the thief, arresting and charging her with grand larceny.
Intermix Tricks‘Tis the season to be larcenous. At 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 13, two men entered the Intermix clothing boutique at 210 Columbus Avenue and made off with $4,500 worth of merchandise. Police are investigating the matter.
