Phone stolen A man reported that his phone was stolen while he was at the southeast corner of 12th Avenue and West 30th Street Friday. Oct. 20 at 11:50 p.m. He told police that he let the suspect use his phone but the man, who was unknown to him, didn’t return the device and left the scene. The victim told police that the phone was valued at $100.
Pedestrian hit by car A 43-year-old man reported that he was hit by a car while walking at the northwest corner of 11th Avenue and West 28th Street Thursday, Oct. 19 at midnight. He told police that he was walking south on 11th Avenue and was hit by a car when he was crossing West 28th Street. He said that his leg hurt as a result of the incident and the vehicle fled the scene. No arrests have been made.
Man busted for theftPolice arrested a 34-year-old man for petit larceny inside the Rite Aid at 188 Ninth Avenue Sunday, Oct. 22 at 3:20 p.m. Police said that the man attempted to put a Bluetooth speaker and a portable DVD player, valued at $120 in total, into his bag without paying for the items. When he was searched, he was reportedly also in possession of a crack pipe.
Bikes stolen A 39-year-old man reported that his bike was also stolen after he locked it up in front of Chelsea Market Friday, Oct. 20 between 4 and 4:30 p.m. He told police that he locked it in the bike parking area with a cable lock and when he returned to retrieve it, the bike was missing. And a 27-year-old woman reported that her bike was stolen while it was locked in front of the Chelsea Market at 75 Ninth Avenue Sunday, Oct. 22 between 12:30 and 1:20 p.m. She told police that she parked and locked the bike in front of the market and when she returned about and hour later, the chain had been cut and the bike had been stolen.
Man conned by woman A 39-year-old man reported that he was the victim of a ticket scam in front of 254 Eighth Avenue on October 16 around 1:35 p.m. He told police that he purchased counterfeit game tickets from a woman through Craigslist for $200 and met her at the above location to pick up the tickets. He told police that he did not realize the tickets were counterfeit at the time and only noticed later. No information was available about which game the tickets were for.
Men busted for beer, soap theft Police arrested two men, ages 28 and 23, for petit larceny inside the Brooklyn Fare at 431 West 37th Street Saturday, Oct. 21 at 7:20 p.m. Police said that the men took a 12-pack of Heineken, a six-pack of Blue Point and a package of soap and attempted to walk out of the store without paying for the items.
