Son arrested on assault, other chargesA 33-year-old man faces numerous charges following an altercation with his mother at her 91st residence, police said. According to a police account, Hermogenes Negron pushed his mother against the door of her apartment at 26 West 91st about 10 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10. She asked him to leave but he again pushed her and then took $300 and a credit card from her dresser. She called police, who was arrested on robbery and felony assault charges, as well as on charges from previous criminal activity, including grand and petit larceny, criminal possession of stolen property and burglars’ tools, criminal trespass, dangerous drugs and weapons, fortune-telling, frauds, harassment and sex crimes, police said.

90th Street melee At 10:50 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11, three men were walking eastbound on West 90th Street when two men started yelling and before assaulting them outside 117 West 90th Street. One of the bandits removed two yellow metal chains from one of the trio, while another took an iPhone 6 from a second victim. The three victims, however, proved uncooperative with police, preferring just to go home rather than proceeding to the 24th Precinct for further investigation. All the victims declined medical attention.

Assault arrest follows shoplift attemptA Duane Reade store employee fought back against a shoplifter but at some cost. At 1:21 a.m. on Sunday, July 15, a 31-year-old man entered the Reade location at 2409 Broadway, took two bottles of shampoo from a store shelf, put them in his pants, and tried to leave the store without paying. Store employees stopped the shoplifter at the store’s entrance, and an altercation ensued. During the dustup the alleged thief bit one of the employees, cutting the employee on the left arm. Ronald Howard was arrested July 15 and charged with assault, criminal mischief and trespass, dangerous drugs and weapons, disorderly conduct, harassment, and more.

A Fraud and AfraidA bank customer chickened out after trying to deposit a fraudulent check in his account. At 3:50 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10, a man entered the Citibank branch at 2560 Broadway and attempted to deposit a check in the amount of $4796.37. When an employee asked the depositor for an ID he said, “I’m not giving you my ID” and fled on foot. The bank contacted the alleged check issuer, the law firm of Muchnick, Golieb and Golieb, P.C., and they said they had never issued the forged instrument.

Check and BalancesAt 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 23, a 55-year-old man posted a check using the mailbox outside 750 Columbus Avenue. Four days later he discovered that the check, in the amount of $5,000, had been cashed by someone he did not know. The man told police he did not know the individual whose name was on the check.
