Food vendor assaultedA 28-year-old man was arrested for assault at the southwest corner of 11th Avenue and West 34th Street Saturday, June 10, at 2:30 p.m. Police said that the victim, a 40-year-old woman working at a food vendor, got into an argument with the man. The woman said the man then got out of his car and pushed her to the ground, bruising her face. The vendor told police the man also kicked her in the abdomen.
Four arrested ON gun cHARGESPolice arrested four people after they were spotted with a gun Sunday, June 11, at 5 a.m. Police responded to a call on West 16th Street about a firearm at the location. Witnesses said that the four were in a taxi heading east on West 16th Street. Police saw the vehicle driving north on Eighth Avenue stopped the car near West 25th Street. During the traffic stop, an officer saw a man leaning over and reaching into the rear of the cab under the partition separating the front and back seats. The four suspects — a 24-year-old woman, 23-year-old woman, 26-year-old man and 36-year-old man — were taken from the cab and that officers then found a .38 caliber handgun in the spot where the 26-year-old had been reaching. The suspects were charged with criminal possession of a weapon inside the precinct.
Bikes stolenA 28-year-old man reported that his bike was stolen after he left it locked in front of 505 West 37th Street for half an hour Thursday, June 8. The victim told police that he locked the bike in front of the building at 8 p.m. and that the bike was missing when he returned at 8:30 p.m.
Another cyclist reported that his bike had been stolen after being locked up for less than an hour later in the week. A 45-year-old man told police that he locked his bike in front of 88 10th Avenue last Friday at 12:20 p.m. and when he returned to the bike at 12:45 p.m., he found the lock clipped and the bike gone.
Man threatenedA man told police that he was threatened inside his apartment building on West 42nd Street between 11th and 12th Avenues Friday, June 9, at 7 p.m. The victim told police that a man went into the lobby and threatened to kill him. The victim said he believes the man had been sent by another person, party to a bad real estate deal. He told police that the man said didn’t pay up, he would be killed.
