Eddie"s Haircut and Shave on the Upper East Side gave one of its clients much more than a haircut on May 16th at St. Catherine Park. Eddie Zirkie, owner of the barbershop, and his employees closed down shop for the day and hosted a fundraiser for Max Plotkin, 6, to raise funds for the Max Cure Foundation. Max, a regular customer at the barbershop, was diagnosed with Lymphoma Cancer two years ago. During the four event Zirkie and his employees sold cupcakes and gave away free haircuts to raise $1,800 for the Foundation. â??We are grateful to Eddie, his family and team, for giving up a Sunday to support us. They made a difference- one hair at a time said David Plotkin, Max"s father. The Max Cure Foundation has raised nearly one million dollars for pediatric cancer causes, and they hope to eventually raise enough to start a cell therapy lab at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
