DOWNTOWN DEALS

to the editor: i was on the bus reading lorraine duffy merkl's "welcome to the land above 96th" (april 9), in which she said she was waiting for her bus to return home and noticed a 99¢ store. she wrote, "when was the last time you bought anything for 99¢..." i found that amusing since i was returning with a bag full of goodies that i had purchased at an incredible 99¢ store on west 32nd street, jack's. ms. merkl should consider checking out stores downtown now that she has discovered uptown.
