EXTENDED SUBWAY WORK
By [Dan Rivoli] Second Avenue subway construction crews will be working late into the night for the next two weeks. Work will be allowed until midnight on a building at 1873 Second Ave., between East 96th and 97th streets, from Oct. 4 until Oct. 18. The 100-year-old building with 12 studio apartments needs remedial interior and exterior work. In an April 2010 meeting with MTA officials about relocation, many tenants complained of the unbearable vibrations coming from next door, where a building had to be torn down for the 96th Street station ancillary structure. Since the tenants were relocated this past September, construction crews will be structurally reinforcing the exterior and each floor of the four-story building. There will also be grouting work on the foundation.
