Jet Lag
The New York Jets star running back Thomas Jones, who they [acquired in the offseason] from the Chicago Bears, will miss an unspecified amount of time after suffering a strained right calf muscle during Sundays practice.
Although Jones has never been the lone featured running back in any offense, the former Bear has come to New York with more hype than the iPhone and recently a local daily newspaper, which that I shall not name, absurdly [claimed he had nothing to prove] this season. Luckily for the Green and White, however, Jones backup Leon Washington [looked ready to carry the load](http://www.nypress.com/blogx/display_blog.cfm?bid=87696863) in Friday nights preseason opener against Atlanta and could fill the starting role temporarily if Jones cant return in time for the regular seasons Week 1 against New England on September 9. No need to hurry back thoughthe Jets couldnt beat New England this season if Walter Payton was their starting running back and Jesus Christ himself lined up under center, so theres no point in rushing Jones back before hes ready.
