Upper East Side boutiques on Madison Avenue were targets of shoplifting and fraud recently. Herve Leger, a boutique that sells the designer"s dresses, had thousands of dollars worth of merchandise stolen July 21. Police said that at 1:20 p.m., three women and a man in their mid-twenties entered the store on 804 Madison Ave. and East 68th Street. The women asked for assistance from the manager and sales associates. While they were busy helping the women, the man grabbed three dresses and ran out of the store. He fled north on Madison Avenue. He stole a $7,200 black gown, a $4,900 black dress and a $1,450 cream and black v-neck dress. On July 16, three men were arrested trying to steal pricy sneakers with a fraudulent credit card. The two pairs of sneakers cost $1,890 and were from Christian Louboutin, the boutique on 965 Madison Ave. and East 76th Street. When arrested for grand larceny, Shaquelle Alcindor, 20, Charles Gordon, 20, and Qadir Eng, 18, were in possession of multiple credit cards and gift cards. A woman was arrested July 15 after trying to steal dresses from Barneys on 660 Madison Ave. and East 61st Street. At 6:35 p.m., the store manager told police that he saw a woman take four Alaia dresses costing $17,140 off the display rack into a dressing room. Jade Shallow, 21, is accused of trying to leave the store with the dresses stuffed in her purse. She was arrested for grand larceny.
