Mom Makes Kids Beg For Their Dinner

What with the extremely high cost of living, where’s the incentive to have five kids nowadays? The extra mouths to feed, the extra bodies to cloth, the extra ears to wash behind—it’s just too much. Unless of course you decide to make  your kids beg for those perks ... literally. That’s what one unemployed Yonkers woman did when she sent her kids out on the street to bring home the bacon. [Antoinette Jones, 37], allegedly made $30 to $40 off her kids each time they begged. But, rats! The get-rich-quick plan came to a crashing halt when mommy dearest’s 18-year-old daughter [called the cops](http://wcbstv.com/local/local_story_094181904.html) after her younger brother disappeared from a supermarket where they were, um, “working.” That's the problem with playing to people's sympathies—not everyone has them.

On Tuesday, [Jones pleaded not guilty] to endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, in Yonkers City Court. She was released without bail and faces up to a year in jail if convicted (does that sound obscenely low to anyone else?). From The Post: “Westchester Child Protective Services removed Jones' kids—the 18-year-old girl, a 17-year-old girl, the 11-year-old boy, the 7-year-old boy, and a 5-year-old boy—and placed them with a family friend, authorities said.” The moral of this sad story? Kids cost more than they earn.
