MTA, Not To Be Mistaken For Devout Group

NY1 reports that the MTA sent a letter to the MTA last week demanding it change its URL. That is, the Metropolitan Transit Authority sent a letter to the Mission To America, an evangelical Christian group, claiming that it was attracting an audience by [misappropriating their website address] and materials. The former can be found at [www.mta.info](http://mta.info/), and the latter at [www.mtainfo.com](http://mtainfo.com/)—or perhaps I've tricked you *evil laugh*.

Apparently, the material in question was a single photograph of a New York City Transit bus, featured in the website's header with a couple other images including a picture of Jesus on the cross. Mission To America’s Webmaster said he was just trying to be clever. And, my, did he succeed. Accompanying text read, "We don't have the bus or train schedule. But we can tell you how to take the most important trip of your life."

Mission To America has since removed the offending pictures and text but will not be changing its web address, which they say was registered first. Apparently a Transit Authority spokesman told NY1 they were satisfied. That makes both MTAs, for a Transit Authority attorney investigating the Christian group’s site subsequently requested a copy of the Gospel of John. Score one for God—Metropolitan Transit Authority, watch your back.
