MUNICIPAL ART SOCIETY HONORS WEST SIDER

    By [Dan Rivoli] Kelley Williams, the executive director of the Strycker?s Bay Neighborhood Council on the Upper West Side, was honored with an award from the Municipal Art Society. The Yolanda Garcia Community Planner Award, named after a South Bronx community activist, was given to Williams Oct. 22 at the Municipal Art Society Summit for New York City. The award is recognition for three decades in community and tenant organizing. At Strycker?s Bay Neighborhood Council?named for an early Dutch settler in the area?Williams also focused on keeping the Upper West Side economically and ethnically diverse.
