    borough president scott stringer has appointed a new liaison to manhattan's lesbian gay bisexual transexual (lgbt) committee. katherine toth, currently the special assistant to the chief of staff, will be stringer's advocate for lgbt issues throughout the borough.

    "i am sure she will bring her outstanding experience in policy and lgbt issues to bear on the discussions at hand," stringer said in a statement.

    toth, a gramercy resident, joined stringer's team in september 2008 and will continue her current duties as a staffer in addition to her new liaison position. her salary as special assistant will remain the same, according to stringer's spokesperson.
