The Hewitt School, a K-12 private school for girls, has found a new head of school. Joan Lonergan will become Hewitt"s seventh head of school this July, after current head Linda Gibbs retires this spring. Lonergan comes to the Upper East Side after 17 years in Palto Alto, Calif., where she served as head of Castilleja School for girls, which spans grades 6-12. While at Castilleja, she conceived that school"s motto, â??Women Learning, Women Leading, and considers it part of the educational philosophy she will bring to Hewitt.
