Pressed for Time: Morton Feldman's Second String Quartet

| 13 Aug 2014 | 04:01

April 11, 110 Livingston St. (betw. Court St. & Boerum Pl.), Brooklyn, 718-330-0313; 11:30 a.m., Free.

This performance of Morton Feldman’s hella long masterwork belongs with Beckett’s Coast of Utopia and Fassbinder’s Berlin Alexanderplatz—performances as endurance sports. Feldman’s work, performed by Ne(x)tworks, is hard to follow and seemingly stochastic. But if you become bored, let your eyes wander along the faded paint and crackling interior of 110 Livingston before it gets renovated and fully opened as ISSUE Project Room’s new home.

Bottom Line: Sit, squirm, listen for six hours. Brag to your friends for the rest of your life.
