By [Dan Rivoli] The MTA is soliciting public comments for the six ancillary facilities that will be built next to stations along Second Avenue Subway. The facilities, which can be several stories tall, will provide ventilation for the new subway. Residents have criticized the design of these structures for being out of context with the residential neighborhood. One structure planned for East 69th Street was the subject of a lawsuit from residents of 233 E. 69th St. The public comments regarding the structures" color and material will be used to design ancillary facilities that are in context with the surrounding neighborhood, an MTA spokesperson said. The public comment period will be open until a planned Community Board 8 meeting Dec. 16. A sample of materials can be found at the board"s office at 505 Park Ave. and East 59th Street, Suite 620.
