i'm sending you cheers on behalf of ruth and all the ruths of the world ("in defense of ruth," new york gal, july 30). she is not alone. how many of us have been swindled by husbands or lovers we thought were wonderful only to find out that they left us high and dry-not only emotionally, but financially too.
