SCHOOLS GET BONUSES

    nine upper west side schools received bonuses from the department of education for improving student grades. the bonuses-paid to union staff members with public funds for meeting performance goals-were awarded as part of the performance bonus program, now in its second year. the dual language middle school got the highest amount, at $25,000. p.s. 180 hugo newman, west side collaborative middle school and community action school each received $17,000. laguardia high school of music and art and performing arts got $7,000. mott hall ii, p.s. 241 family academy on west 113th street, academic and athletic excellence and p.s. 149 sojourner truth received $7,000 each.
