SURVEY: MTA A-OK
By Dan Rivoli The MTA conducted a customer satisfaction survey that showed straphangers approve of train service. Despite fare hikes and deep service cuts, 71 percent of riders surveyed were satisfied with the overall system. At 77 percent, even more approved their most-used train line. An overwhelming 95 percent of MTA riders felt â??satisfied with the countdown clocks that display the minutes until the next train arrives. More than half were â??very satisfied. Other perks for riders, such as signage, maps and email alerts, scored big with riders. But riders were less pleased with rush- hour crowding. Only 44 percent were satisfied with the amount of rush hour riders. â??This has obviously been an extremely tough year for our transit system and for our customers, but the survey results show that our customers appreciate the improvements we have been able to put into place, like countdown clocks, said MTA Chairman Jay Walder in a statement.
