Taking Property on the 1/2/3
There has been a rash of robberies on the Upper West Side's 1/2/3 train lines recently. A 26-year-old Upper West Side woman had her iPhone stolen by a man while riding the downtown 1 train Dec. 12 at 8:15 p.m. The woman got on the train at 116th Street to head home. At West 79th Street a man entered her car and stood in front of her while she was sitting. At West 72nd Street, the man grabbed her iPhone and darted out of the train. The woman jumped up in pursuit and saw the mugger flee west on West 72nd Street. Two men robbed a 69-year-old West Harlem woman after exiting the Broadway/West 79th Street station Dec. 10 at 9:25 a.m. She was standing on the northeast corner of the intersection, about to cross to buy cigarettes, when a man grabbed the right side of her coat and said, "Give me your money." The jacket tore and a second man approached, reaching into her pocket to grab her wallet with $200 cash inside. A 28-year-old Brooklyn man got into a tussle with his mugger in the Broadway/West 66th Street station Dec. 6 at 7:25 p.m. The man took a southbound 1 train at West 86th Street. The mugger entered the train at West 66th Street and grabbed the iPhone from the man's hands. The man chased the mugger and caught him. The two fought, with the man getting punched in the face, injuring his right eye. The man held the mugger down until he gave up the phone but the mugger freed himself and ran out of the station.
