The Blackboard Awards 2010: High Schools in High Regard

| 17 Feb 2015 | 03:14

We examine some of the city's best high schools this week in our last of four Blackboard Awards special sections for 2010. The outstanding Blackboard Awards to public, religious and private high schools went to LaGuardia School of the Arts, Heschel School and Brooklyn Friends. We also turn our eye to some of the newer public schools in the city, including Harbor School on Governors Island, the iSchool and Frank McCourt High School. Fieldston, long known as one of the best college prep schools in the city, is also a sports powerhouse, as many of their defeated opponents have learned all too well. The Blackboards are not educational rankings, but are our way of highlighting a selection of the excellent schools in the city. A panel of people knowledgeable about education within and outside of Manhattan Media select the winners, and they are beginning to take a closer look at some of the city's outstanding teachers, who will be honored in June.
