The Draft? Again?

Though multiple Congressional resolutions have failed to bring back the draft, and though most military strategists agree that a volunteer military is better for troop morale (they actually want to be there), that doesn't seem to stop some elected officials from trotting out the old "there will be a draft any day now" argument when it comes to matters of war.

Today's example is Bronx Assemblyman Michael Benjamin (pictured) who just issued a release outlining just how a draft would be handled if it were brought back from the dead, despite no indication that it will be. The release also indicates that Benjamin is a member of his local draft board, representing three South Bronx zip codes, so maybe there was a meeting and he was inspired to send the release.

In related news, [a new poll] out of Russia indicates that 54% of that country's population wants to abolish the draft and replace the military with all-volunteer forces.
