Two apartments in an East 92nd Street building, between First and Second avenues, were ransacked Sept. 2. A 31-year-old man reported that he came home that day at 7 p.m. and saw that a window was open and his front door shut but unlocked. He reported that his alarm clock, three cartons of cigarettes that cost $200, a pair of sunglasses, three watches, a Playstation videogame console, a laptop and a $600 television were stolen. On the same day, a neighbor in the building, a 29-year-old woman, was also a victim of a burglary. She returned home to find the screen of a window to the fire escape pushed in. The burglar took two laptops, a digital camera and jewelry, an estimated $1,900 haul.
