Violent Assault at Duane Reade

A 24-year-old man was arrested after trying to swipe merchandise from a Duane Reade and attacking a security guard. Police said that April 16, Mark Krowiak tried to steal $57 worth of cosmetics and cough medicine from the Duane Reade at 1889 Broadway and West 63rd Street. The store detective stopped Krowiak, but he took out a glass bottle and smashed it over the 33-year-old detective?s head. The thief continued to fight with the store detective and another employee, police said. Krowiak was arrested and charged with robbery.
